Abstract

This is to be a reminiscence rather than a history. By the time it is published fifty years will have passed since I joined the little band of young iconoclasts in Berkeley that Gilbert Lewis took there with him in 1912. Much that might be said about my exciting half century has been published in the that I wrote for the National Academy of Sciences on the careers of Gilbert N. Lewis, William C. Bray, and Wendell M. Latimer. A labor of love in each case. What follows will include items from these memoirs.
